TANZANIA FRANCIS CHEKA NEW IBF CONTINENTAL AFRICA CHAMPION

 Tanzanian Francis Cheka became the new "IBF Continental Africa Super Middleweight Champion" by winning the title against Mada Maugo of Tanzania.

The tournament was the 12 rounder bout based on the 3 minutes for each round. The promoter of this magnificent tournament was Lucas Rutauinurwa of Kitwe General Traders Limited from Dar-Es-Salaam, Tanzania. The referee was Mr. John Shipanuka from Zambia. Judges were; Mr. William Sekelete (Zambia), Mr. Simon Katogole (Uganda) and Mr. Ismail Sekisambu (Uganda) respectively!

The International Boxing Federation  would like to take this opportunity to congratulate both Francis Chaka and Tanzanian boxing fraternity as a whole for winning this prestigious title. These titles do not come on the plate but are earned after very hard work. Cheka must defend his title within six months period!

While we understand that such title come with glamor, would like to advice Champion Francis Cheka to live up as a champion by upholding his integrity and discipline as a true champion because his is a "ROLE MODEL"

Also, we would like to take this opportunity to thank Media Houses and individual journalists for giving wide coverage throughout the building up for this great tournament! This was a very positive and major development for the sports fraternity in Tanzania and Africa as a whole.

While on the same subject, we would like to correct some of the reporting errors made by some median houses and individual journalists about the title. As I aforementioned, this was IBF Continental Africa Title" and not "Intercontinental, East & Central Africa or IBF world title respectively!

While we understand the enthusiasm associated with such a major fight on the part of out journalists, we ask that in order to report boxing matters correctly please seek clarification from the responsible authority to avoid misleading the public.

We are all responsible for correct information that we disseminate to the public and this organization would appreciate if caution on the reporting is exercised.
